REACH Learning Services

REACH Learning believes every child is unique and deserves individualized care.

We make it our mission to help children maximize their gifts so they can become the best versions of themselves. The children that we work with have often been identified with a learning and/or behavioral need.

Our team has specific clinical and academic expertise that allows us to support a wide variety of children and youth.

The learner profiles we currently serve include students who experience:

  • Profile 1

A specific learning disability in reading, writing, or math and an underlying social-emotional need such as low confidence, self-esteem, anxiety, perfectionism, etc.

  • Profile 2

ADHD and/or an executive functioning disability that is compounded by either a specific learning disability or a social-emotional need.

  • Profile 3

Gifted learners who may also have a disability such as a specific learning disability, high-functioning Autism, or social-emotional and mental health needs.

  • Profile 4

A social-emotional or mental health need that impacts academic performance.

  • Profile 5

Learning differences that may not meet criteria for school-based support in some settings, but which would benefit from academic and social-emotional support.

“The whole process of getting a school evaluation was overwhelming. With REACH, I felt so much better. They knew my son, they knew the school system. They walked us through everything. They even worked with the school to co-write his first IEP.”

The REACH Learning Approach

While the student is at the center of our intervention process, we extend our work to families and schools to foster support and understanding from all angles.

1. Direct Academic and Social-Emotional
Intervention

REACH Learning’s educational clinicians have advanced training in proven academic approaches designed to help students master core academics including reading, writing, and mathematics. Intervention curricula include but are not limited to:

  • Orton-Gillingham

  • Step Up to Writing

  • Lindamood Bell

  • Cognitively Guided Math Instruction

  • Singapore Math

REACH Learning integrates a set of core social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies established by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) into each student’s intervention process. Educational clinicians work with students to foster self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. In this way, our clinicians address both the academic and social-emotional opportunities of students in every session.

2. Coaching and
Supporting Families

Parents and family members are an integral part of the REACH Learning approach. We know academics and social-emotional intervention. Parents know their kids!  Our goal is to walk along this journey with our families. For us, this means helping to create a bridge between a child, a family, and a school system.

3. Supporting Teachers

REACH Learning educational clinicians view themselves as an extension of a student’s classroom teacher. They focus on providing additional support, tools, and training to reinforce what is being taught in the classroom. Educational clinicians will often consult with a student’s teacher to pre-teach or re-teach (or both) classroom lessons in order to ensure the student masters the subject matter before moving on. In addition, REACH Learning directors are available to assist a student’s teacher in developing an Individual Education Program (IEP), customize incentives, and determine the best academic and SEL approaches for the student.
